Today I got the opportunity to try the new limited edition Diet Cherry Chocolate Dr. Pepper soda and it is awesome.
The taste is like Dr. Pepper and a cherry got freaky with a bottle of chocolate sauce. At first, I was a bit skeptical and assumed the flavors would be muddled, but they are actually really complex. With each sip, there is the spice of the Dr. Pepper, the sweetness of the cherry, then a chocolate aftertaste.
Diet Dr. Pepper was the first to perfect the “not fake diet flavor”. This is just another fine example of that. The complexity of the flavors hides any aspartame flavor.
I highly recommend Diet Cherry Chocolate Dr. Pepper. I picked up a 12-pack for $2.50 and there is a $1 off coupon in the box.
There is another excellent review here.

It also goes awesome with rum.
Happy Fat Tuesday!
yummy! You sold me and I will try it
KGJ-
I really love this soda. I plan to buy another 12-pack when mine runs out. It is totally worth it!
I might try this sometime, but I wouldn’t drink it more than once without having a non-diet version. I worry about it being diet because Diet Dr Pepper doesn’t taste very good at all. Plus I’m not so hot on consuming aspartame. If you like Diet Dr Pepper, more power to you, but to me I can tell the difference immediately. I also have some Dr Pepper made with cane sugar from Dublin Dr Pepper, which is an improvement over the high fructose corn syrup but spendy.
Quote from Wikipedia: In 1995, FDA Epidemiology Branch Chief Thomas Wilcox reported that aspartame complaints represented 75% of all reports of adverse reactions to substances in the food supply from 1981 to 1995. Look up “excitotoxin” if you need more details.
@Steve-
Excitotoxin sounded so thrilling until I read more about it. Scary stuff indeed.
Been scared to try this; Berries & Cream tasted like cough syrup to me. I’ll take you word for it though and try a 20oz.
Where are you buying this soda?? I have seen the commercials, but I can’t find it in the stores. I want some!
@ Jeremy
The Berries and Cream gave me a diabeetus scare. It was obscenely way too sweet.
@ Jenna,
It is at every store in the Hoosier state. It sure doesn’t seem like a limited edition soda here.

Thanks – I’m in Florida and haven’t found any yet. Hopefully it will be available before it goes away
Definitely put vodka in it! Yum! I would probably not drink this with a meal, but it’s yum otherwise(with alcoholic enhancement).
I HAVE LOOKED AND LOOKED AND BEEN VERY PATIENT WAITING TO TRY MY TWO FAVORITE FLAVORS, CHOCOLATE AND CHERRY – AND TODAY I FINALLY FOUND A 12-PK., RACED HOME AND POPPED ONE OPEN. IT WAS EVEN MORE THAN I EXPECTED – JUST LIKE DRINKING DOWN CHOCOLATE COVERED CHERRIES!! YUMMY!! I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE CANS TO GET COLD SO I DON’T HAVE TO EVEN USE AN ICE CUBE!!! THANK YOU, DR. PEPPER – YOU’VE ALWAYS BEEN MY #1 DRINK AND NOW YOU ARE MY #001 DRINK!
I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND I FOUND THE CHOCOLATE CHERRY AT WINN DIXIE!!!!
In the Midwest, they have them at Wal-Mart, Kroger, and Marsh.
About this stuff…Drink it…Love it…Live it. It’s awesome!!!
The liquid tootsie roll…thats what this tastes like…disgusting…I love Dr. Pepper, but this has got to go.
This stuff tastes just like a cherry tootie pop. yumm
I finally found some in New York. It was pretty horrific. somehow, chocolate and nutrasweet don’t mix.
Sadly, they don’t produce it anymore. I only bought one 12 pack because I wasn’t sure, and when I went back for more they were out! If you loved it, write to Dr. Pepper and tell them you want it back! If only for one holiday, (I found it around Valentine’s Day), I would just stock up! I have one can left and am saving it for a real craving.
