The nice folks at Vending Routes sent me tins of Buzz Bites, the new caffeinated energy candy.

They sent me the chocolate and chocolate mint variety of their product, which comes 6 to a tin.
First impression: I freaking love tins. I keep them around for other uses long after the product is gone. These tins inform me that “1 chew = 1 cup of coffee, seriously caffeinated”. I can deal with that. I forewent my morning coffee to accurately gauge how caffeinated these truly are. Cracking this baby open, we are welcomed by 6 individually wrapped chews and a fist and a lightning bolt. Bold advertising. We shall see if they live up to their name.
Consumption: Both varieties smell like cocoa pebbles. After popping the chocolate mint variety in my mouth, it tastes like Andes mint chocolate candies. The chocolate variety taste stays true to the cocoa pebbles smell. Both varieties are chewy and similar in texture to a Bit O Honey. I finish it in about 2 minutes.
Afterthoughts: The caffeine jolt is good. I attribute the lack of headache compared to black coffee to the taurine. The only downside is that it leaves a bit of a funky taurine chemical taste in my mouth after the chew is gone. Despite that, it has a great overall taste and is a great pick me up. I would definitely consider buying these for the price. They are retailing for $3.99 a tin or in a vending machine near you.

I pop Foosh energy mints here and there – it’s the mint these chocolates are cousins of. Love those things… you can’t find a more powerful mint.
Caffeine is my drug of choice, and when coffee just isn’t enough (or convenient) you can’t beat these things.
66 cents per chew? Even though it is less than a cup of coffee, I think it would have to come down to taste to justify spending that much.
Great review! I saw those in the vending machine and they made me go “hmmm…” I’ll have to try one after baby is born.
