Growing Plants With Coco Coir

Coco coir is a great renewable plant growing medium made from coconut husks.  With a few easy steps, it can give great yields to any hydroponic garden. 1. Flush, flush flush Coir is typically derived from ocean coastal regions.  This means that processed coir has a high salt content that isn’t beneficial to growing plants.  [...]

Lite/Coors Light Home Draft System

So you want domestic draft beer at home?  Look no further than the Miller Lite and Coors Light Home Draft System. Just put it in your fridge for 24 hours, pull the safety tabs, turn on the co2 and pour! OK, enough with the marketing speak. These have a lot of advantages over bottles or [...]

MRE’s (Meals-Ready-To-Eat)

Because of the economy and current political climate, we are stocking up on food and water.  Our short-term food storage plan includes MRE’s, or Meals-Ready-To-Eat, which are bundled hot meals that will last 5-10 years in storage. I picked up a case of Ameriqual civilian MRE’s.  The menu includes things like potato soup and chicken [...]

Tactical Nuclear Penguin- 32% ABV “Beer”

I was intrigued when I saw a “beer” that claimed to be 32% alcohol.  The previous record is Sam Adams “Utopias“, which uses distiller’s yeast and is only 23%, so I was extremely skeptical.  Their advertisement is amusing and tells how they did it. Essentially, after freeze distillation, this becomes a malt-based liquer, rather than [...]

La Preferida Louisiana Hot Sauce

Sorry folks, I just got a new sales route.  I am sorry I haven’t been around, but my time has been extremely tight.  I have missed you all. I have found a new love.  For those of you that know me, I love spicy things.  I love the long hurt of Bhut Jolokias, but sometimes [...]

Bhut Jolokia

I am growing Bhut Jolokias in hydro with FloraNectar as a supplement.  They are a million Scoville units normally, but the FloraNectar makes the area they are growing in like it is full of tear gas.  These things are dangerous and they aren’t even ripe! They even look dangerous like no human should eat them.

Autopots

I am really impressed by my Autopots system.  I am amazed how much they have grown since the last time I updated a month ago.  Canna coco and nutrients are great in the Autopot system. Here is my Cherokee Purple heirloom tomato.  Notice how the garden is far away from the beast in the background. [...]

Guinness 250th Anniversary Stout Review

Guinness released a one-time Anniversary Stout to celebrate its 250th year in business at St. James Gate in Dublin.  I was interested to see another variation on their famous stouts. I poured the Anniversary stout into a pint glass.  It looks like black motor oil with a decent amount retention of beige head. The lacing [...]

New Belgium Fat Tire Beer Review

We just got New Belgium’s Fat Tire amber ale in our area this week.  I have seen “bottle conditioned” beer, but never “can conditioned”.  I was in the mood for a good amber ale, so I wanted to check it out. I poured Fat Tire into a pilsner glass.  It has some nice white bubbly [...]

Azamax For Pests In The Garden

For controlling insects, I have always used neem oil.  I was tired of the preparation, the smell, and the tough cleanup and was looking for something different.  General Hydroponics just put out a new organic pesticide called Azamax.  Azamax is an insecticide, miticide, and nematocide for controlling insects in the garden. Azamax uses the active [...]
