SPAM With Bacon

If we haven’t done enough posts about bizarre foods, then yes, I am doing a post about SPAM.  Everyone except for Hawaii has pretty much just started typing in their address bar to go look for something else, but hear me out!  From one foodie to another, this stuff is good. First off, let’s talk [...]

Tomaters!

We plan on doing lots of canning this year, so we have lots of tomatoes.  With a 4-foot tall beast like this already growing in my organic garden, I don’t think we are going to be able to eat them all. We also have a couple of stowaways in one of my compost piles.  My [...]

Garden Update

Sorry I haven’t been around a lot lately folks.  My job tends to get a little hectic around holidays.  Regardless, I am still gardening. I am using my Autopots again this year.  I am using Canna coco coir with General Hydroponics Maxibloom nutrients, Cannazym, Canna Boost, and Floralicious Plus.  My choice in plants this year [...]

Kimchi!

Kimchi is a spicy pickled cabbage used as a side dish or in Korean main dishes.  We have been making pickles and sauerkraut, so Kimchi wasn’t a far stretch. We used the WikiHow recipe.  It makes about 1 1/2 Quarts. 3 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon sea salt 6 cups water 2 lbs. Chinese (Napa) cabbage, [...]

Blue Moon Grand Cru Beer Review

Blue Moon has released their limited edition Grand Cru wheat beer.  It was a bit expensive, but I had to try it out because it is only brewed once every 20 years. I poured the slightly chilled Grand Cru into a snifter producing a dirty squash colored brew with huge chunks left from bottle conditioning [...]

Bacon Mat!

Some people call me a “Bacon Enthusiast”.  Tonight, I wanted to get the most bacon per square inch in our omelettes.  We wove the bacon into a bacon mat.  It was delicious.

Bhut Jolokia Medium Challenge: WIN

I thought my results were inconsistent with the Bhut Jolokia medium challenge.  NOT SO! The Higromite pulled ahead with the extra silicon in the medium, the hydroton came in second place and organic soil came in third over time.  All plants are being fed 900 ppm FloraNova.

Still Here . . .

Hey folks, I am still here. I have hydroponic cacti, a few new reviews, and of course, plenty of Bhut Jolokia peppers in the lab.   Things get a little hectic around the holidays, but no worries, things will be back to normal soon.

Bhut Jolokia Giveaway Winners!

Howdy!  Everyone that replied in the Bhut Jolokia giveaway thread wins (as long as you are in the US).  Please e-mail webmaster@red-icculus.com with your address and I will send you some of the painful love.

Bhut Jolokia Update

I have an update on my Bhut Jolokia Peppers being fed Flora Nova and FloraNectar.  I have about 25 that have ripened up and have been collected so far. I blame my success with Bhut Jolokia on being able to slam this particular pepper variety with higher nutrients.  I am able to use up to [...]
